In 1886, when education pioneer Elizabeth Harrison founded what would eventually become National Louis University, she knew that the key to educational excellence is excellent educators. The world has changed drastically since then, but the National College of Education—the largest and oldest of the colleges that form NLU—still reflects her vision, perseverance and commitment to serving every student.
Our diverse body of students, ranging from brand-new teachers to veteran leaders, benefits from our robust research program and network of partnerships with schools, agencies and non-profits across Illinois. Most importantly, they benefit from our belief that education doesn’t end at commencement. There’s always room for educators to grow, and there’s always room for ambitious educators at the NCE.
